Functional beauty inherent in toughness

Ion Plating city code ring
Ion plating embellishes the metal city code ring with an accent color. World Time city codes inscribed on the ring underscore the global character of this GPS hybrid radio-controlled, solar-powered watch.
DLC-coated bezel
The surface of the metal bezel is coated with an amorphous carbon film with hardness approaching a diamond’s. This DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating gives it superior abrasion resistance accompanied by a quality material feel
Carbon-fiber insert band
A carbon- fiber insert with outstanding tensile strength is molded into resin material to produce a tough, durable band.
Mode dial
During GPS signal reception, the latitude of the current location is indicated by a small hand. In the Flight Mode, the hand points to an airplane icon. These and other careful details have been added assuming worldwide use.
Sapphire crystal
A sapphire crystal with excellent scratch resistance has been installed to assure high-clarity viewing. Application of a non-reflective coating to the crystal enhances the dial’s visibility further.
Nano-processed dial parts
Resin material is employed for the dial’s hour marker ring in an innovative move aimed at enhancing the watch’s lightweight and shock-resistance characteristics. Original nano-processing and deposition technologies are adopted to achieve sharp modeling and a high-quality coating, resulting in a combination of a 3D look with a superior quality appearance.
Forged buttons
The side buttons are forge-molded. Besides underscoring the tough look, their large-format, dignified modeling brings out the quality look of the metal material.
Oversized quick-lock crown
The crown is equipped with a quick-lock mechanism that’s easy to lock and release. Special processing has been conducted to improve the large-dimension crown’s grip and enhance its operability.

TRIPLE G RESIST
The pursuit of even greater toughness has produced a tough structure that stands up to three types of powerful gravitational acceleration: shocks, centrifugal forces and vibrations. The strength to operate normally under the most brutal conditions enables users to take full advantage of the GPS hybrid radio wave reception system’s unique ability to receive transmissions in any area of the globe.
Band attachment structure
The band is attached securely to the case with 2.3 mm diameter screws inserted from both sides at 1.5x the usual tightening torque. Pipes serving as housings rotate freely to alleviate the problem of loosening due to vibrations.
Fine resin frame
The diameter of the dial is enlarged to assure high-sensitivity reception. A high-rigidity fine resin frame is installed to support the case while its thickness is minimized to maintain the optimal G-SHOCK size and slimness
Shadow-dispersion solar cells
Shadow-dispersion dispersed solar cells with excellent power-generating efficiency are installed to assure ample power for GPS signal reception. Despite an increase in the dial’s transmission efficiency for power-generation purposes, the solar cells’ distribution keeps them out of sight.
High-brightness LED light
A high-brightness LED light is installed to ensure vivid lighting for reading the dial and outstanding visibility in dark places.
In flight mode
In the Flight Mode, GPS reception is turned off by button operation. This function supports use in compliance with aviation safety standards in aircraft that prohibit the operation of signal transmission devices during takeoff and landing.
Smart Access
Multi Mission Drive, which realizes multifunctionality by assigning multiple roles to individual hands, is equipped with an electric crown switch. World Time city selection is accomplished by simple crown operation, providing speedy access to the current times in the world’s major cities.
20-bar water resistance
The airtight structure keeps water out during everything from daily activities to sudden rainstorms, swimming or snorkeling.

WORLD TIME
With World Time, simply selecting a city name on the city code ring provides immediate access to the time in any of 40 time zones. Two city times can be displayed simultaneously as well, with confirmation of the current time or local time enabled by hour and minute hands in an inset dial. This function is convenient for international travel and other uses.
